Swedish Mobile Operators secure their operations with Mobile Site

Situations are sometimes so severe that the Swedish mobile network is not fully operational. Bad accidents, natural catastrophes, hurricanes, or simply very large gatherings of people may overload the network, limiting the effectiveness of important emergency services. On top of that, subscribers who cannot make calls are dissatisfied.

The Swedish Post and Telecom Agency (PTS) has amongst others the task of initiating measures to ensure that the Swedish mobile networks can cope with large disturbances, and suggested some improvements. In a unique action, the four large mobile operators TeliaSonera, 3, Tele2 and Telenor set their fierce competition aside and agreed on a specification for mobile emergency base stations.
